My stay in the hospital with my grandma...

hello there! finally got the chance to input what happened these past few hours... nevertheless it was a good experience for me and my grandma. Ok heres what happened:

I was goin home from work when i got a phone call (at 6:45 pm) from my aunt telling me to go to the hospital, due to my grandma's been sent to the ER Dept. I quickly rushed towards the hospital, not knowing what happened and all. I arrived in the hospital, without taking off my ankle weights (which i was wearing everyday for work, but its for personal use, not really required by my workplace LOL) off topic... anyway i saw my aunt and grandma, both in room 21 of the ER Dept. She was on the bed resting and my aunt was waiting for me and the doctor. they told me that the doctor was cute and everything, told them that it wasn't the time or place to fool around. anyways the doctor came and told us what happened. she suspects that there is a heart problem due to a heart murmur heard. we were worried a bit, but due to her age (84 yrs old) we were not surprised about it.

Then afterwards, the doctor surrendered us to another specialist of the heart to be checked and tested for any abnormalities with her. so my aunt left to tend to my cuzin's fever (which was 103 at that time, coincidently) so she was worried for both of them. I was left to tend to her needs and kinda be with her to tell the nurses, doctors, etc about her conditions and allergies.

Ok like around 9-10 pm, we were settled upstairs and my grandma quieted down (she had anxiety attacks before goin up cuz she taught that there was something wrong with her that she would die from it. thats a diff story btw.

Ok i met a nurse named angela. she's chinese (i think) and she was asking me a lot of questions related to my grandma. at first she didn't give me a chance to explain that i was an LVN/nurse, so in short, she didn't need to explain a lot of things, in detail O_O

So in short, we were talking for 1 hr were in fact we could have been finished in 20 min. LOL cuz my gm said she might have liked me, i told her "grandma, she's just doin her job" but it was funny when you know stuff and someone tries hard enough to explain it to you in precise detail, but they don't really need to do it. also, you can catch a lot of people telling you lies and you can catch it (cuz you know about the topic you're discussing xD) so it was fun in a way.

After that, a couple more encounters with a lot of nurses (mostly girls, which btw is weird considering most girls don't like that schedule (midnight) and there's 1-2 guys in sight) but it was cool.

didn't get shuteye at all (due to the patient right next to us, bed b to be exact) she was having trouble breathing and i felt bad for her. i mean she's sweet and everything, but she only knows spanish and had a hard time tryin to tell the nurses about her condition. I tried to help them cuz i may have known a bit of spanish, but only a few words i could remember. but was of no luck T.T

She's fine btw so don't worry people =) i was just stating that spanish is really needed in health care settings and they pay you good money if you know the language. and also its really hard to coney messages to people esp wen you're in foreign soil (i know the feeling sometimes) that's why i really felt bad...

anyhoo, like around 6am, had only 30min of sleep, tired and annoyed (by the nurse who didn't really check up on my grandma (talking about a diff nurse this time, a tall dark complexion gay guy, purely descriptive, non judicial) but i was annoyed by him cuz i was doin his job. kinda disappointed as well that he's a nurse....... :/

the other shift came in like around 7am, still dizzy (due to lack of sleep and 02) i had to make myself ready for the tests that my gm will be put to. so i told her that i needed to go home quickly to get my charger (for the phone to contact my aunts/fam) and be right back for the procedures. she said ok and i left to grab it

came back 8 approx. just in time to check up on her, feed her breakfast and everything. hmm i miss those times that i tend to the sick, lonely and downhearted. MAN! i want a nursing job NOW =(

9am came, and time for the stress test, echocardiogram, and CT scan. basically big words but with simple purpose, to get a visual picture of the heart in diff angles and types. hmm i wonder if i could see the pics next time :P

around 12 am (hungry like the wolf) i left my grandma resting after all those procedures, to get me a shower and change clothes/eat/get some supplies. the reason why is due to the doctor telling us that we might have to stay there for a few days depending on the results of the tests @_@ and i, like the boy scout i was, was thinking ahead if i was about the stay.

finally gettin back after an hour or so, saw my gm sleeping soundly in the bed (this was at 2pm or so) so i sat down beside her while eating my curly fries and crispy chicken strips (boy im hungry now typin this) =)

her lunch came a few minutes after (yup they served lunch late there) and i helped her eat it :P it was appetizing too i think :o

like around 6pm, the other nurse told us we are leaving cuz there was no problem with her heart, they just found a urinary tract infection that needed to be treated with antibiotics. after 2-3hrs more, we left the hospital with a happy face and a healthy heart xDDD

As you can see, those statements above may seem odd and incomplete (also jumping from one topic to another) is a great way to describe my exp there in the hospital. it is due to its like some sort of "blur" that happened so quickly, but lasted longer in my memory, but due to the lack of sleep, just remembered the highlights of it all @.@

Hope this sums it all up, can't really remember the rest sadly, but its a great experience to me that i got to use my skills in helping my loving grandma =)

Green Zone (XMR)

Ok Xan is back for another Xan's Movie Rating, or XMR for short. This time, I got the privilege of watching "Green Zone" by Matt damon and the Director of "Bourne" trilogy.
I noticed a few things during my stay over there...

1. There were not much people watching in that specific movie, like its mostly people who likes political stuff (in short, old people O_O) but to watch it like at that time makes sense, cuz most people have lives to live hehehe

2. Bought 1 reg size popcorn and 1 medium h2o and i realized that i would not spend $10 bucks on something i wouldn't enjoy anyway (ohh btw thanks jess for tipping me that popcorn and h2o = not a good idea T.T)
So in short folks, when you go to a cinema, or a movie house remember, eat first outside cuz all the foods there are a ripoff o.o

3. The trailer for the movie seemed nice, in fact, it showed more interesting things than the actual movie itself (ill explain later) but the trailer made me watch the movie, or so i taught it was >.<

Ok here is the synopsis:

Story is about a chief warrant officer (Damon) who gets into a wild goose chase with WMD (or weapons of mass destruction) within Iraq. It goes by the story after the occupation of Americans in Iraq, after the war. They go on and on within the system and searches for those equipment that could not be found. He is helped by a CIA operative and some of his troops only to find out a deeper truth than the said issue. Based on a fictional book by an author which i could not remember atm. (sorry bout that)

Ok movie rating. Hmm the main reasons that i wanted to see this movie are the following:

1. matt damon (good acting sense, makes the "bourne" char look so good and realistic, and has this snappy way of punching stuff O_O)

2. director of "bourne" movies. seriously, any guy not liking this film is gay, bi, or not a man. ;P

3. Trailer. Good cinematography, action sequences, and whole lot of plot ^_~

kk now for the upsides/downsides part (which maybe short due to the following)

upsides:

1. fictional. If it wasn't, the whole government (america) would collapse if this were true, and no one will believe in it after (you have to watch it to understand it)

2. Complicated storyline. Yup this could be an upside due to alot of politically minded individuals watched this film and liked the screenplay. Unfortuantely, this is also a downside

3. Iraq shooting places. Seriously, this showed how the Iraqi people are during those times, i mean depicted scenes of them. I admit, it may me graphic to some audiences (hence rated R) but it justs shows how it was in reality. And yup, those are real scenarios, whether you're naive enough to deny it, or don't believe it. It does happen in real life @_@

downsides:
1. poor storyline. Like i stated above, it is complicated, but it only goes back and forth and then makes it simple because its just about the political issue of Iraq. At first people taught its a story after bourne, but then when the movie starts its waaay different from it, i mean the main char doesnt even fight much, only shooting and stuff. another thing is it may be too complicated for young audiences that people lose interest in watching it (i even saw people leaving the cinema cuz it bored them?) but for me it was ok, im just talking for the majority of them hehe

2. sad action sequences. i mean cmon! matt damon, do something?! like i said earlier, the trailers all you gonna get, other than that, its purely talking about the said topic, and some fights here and there. And the fights are just gunfire and some other illogical stuff. T.T (another thing is people compare this to bourne cuz of two things, director and main char. so if you gonna make another kind of movie when you have these two people, i suggest makin it more action, less talking)

3. genre depicted. it says "action thriller" but there wasnt any imho. i can consider this a political depiction more than action nor thriller because of the neverending talking about how the %#@$%@#^@#$^ (starts talkin about the movie, but cant say here due to potential movie goers) but nevertheless, depicted very good about how Iraq was before and now.

Final verdict:

(from my previous post, so you would know my baseline)
max stars = 5

1 - ingenuity and depth of plot/screenplay/storyline
1 - actors/actresses portrayal of roles
1 - cinematography (includes special effects and other cgi stuff)
1 - movie suited for the genre it was shown for (like e.g. comedy for comedy, action for action, etc.)
1 - personal score liking (comments added here if needed)

Ok, Xan's Movie Rating (XMR) for "Green Zone" would be a 1.5 out of 5 . -1 for ingenuity, -1 for cinematography (dizzy spells for me after watchin it), -1 for the genre depicted, and -.5 for my personal liking (didn't really enjoyed the whole movie, some parts of it only) ^_~

A trip to wonderland..... of sorts O__O

hello there mateys! This is Xan signin in to blog about my latest conquest.... trip to ktown galleria mall!!! woot~

Ok first off, we had to do alot of chores before goin, so me and g helped each other (actually tbh, i asked for his help due to i was always asked by my uncle to help him out, so its like this: uncle > me > gerard @.@)

but thankfully, we finished like around 2pm (which i was aiming for 12nn T_T) but its ok, betta late than neva i might say xD

so there we are, gettin ready to go! all i had to do for now is withdraw money (cuz idk if they only accept cash, checks or debit/credit) but i just needed to be sure (since idk the place, and idk where the bank maybe located)

so there we are driving... we were bored as the trip progressed, so we took a pic (due to the traffic, dont try this without adult supervision/experienced driver, cuz you will be driving with 1 hand in the freeway)

ok arrived at the place, it was huge (from my pov, cuz i wasnt expecting a mall/market, i taught it was just a small mart xDD) but nevertheless, somewhat smaller than most malls i might say, but still good

sadly couldnt take pics of the entire mall due to prohibitions of the owners, and some other stuff (bein shy, looking like tourists, etc lol) but we did some things while we were there!

First off, i bought a korean - english expressions book, its in hangeul, but im learning to read it, so i bought this instead of the usual english-korean translation. just turning things around hehe (btw the guy was wondrin why am i in there cuz everything he sells is in hangeul hehe) i told him "gomapsupnida" and bid farewell... he looked confuzzled (word invented by hdb J! haha can't help using it xDD)

---Picture gonna be uploaded soon, please be patient---

after that, we went inside a music store!!! woah they have lots, from soundtracks of k-dramas (saw iris, seasons of love, lovers in paris, and all other dramas ^_~) to kpop (woot! saw suju, boa, rain, 2am/2pm, shinhwa, and snsd!) and some boxed sets of k-dramas! (they have queen seon deok, princess ja-myung, etc) but i was determined to buy all albums of SNSD! so i got 4 of their released albums by far (2 mini, 2 main) and got myself (and g) a poster of their latest album, OH! The vendor lady was so nice, she gave me a mini-membership card (ofc, cuz i spent like 80+ in there, she treats me like a regular lol)

---Pictures of albums coming soon, please be patient =P ---

then me and g got tired, so we got ourselves some food! we were so hungry, from the cleaning, to the traffic, and the shopping... so we got 3 things, shrimp fried rice, fish cake soup, and dumplings! yum yum yum =)

--- picture of the food coming up shortly... again please be patient---

this is our pose after eating (lol alot of peeps looked at us cuz there was a clicking sound from my camera hehe)

after feeling full, we went around, theres alot of mini shops, mostly costly stuff, but there was (brief description) a salon, food plaza, mini-stores, music and book store, health and research stuff, stalls, etc)

then we got creative / reminiscent. due to my friend's pic / pose, i decided to tell g to pose in a position we wasn't sure if he could do hehehe... but i insisted otherwise, nevertheless it was a good pic! (this is the suprize J, hehehe 2.5% aegyo ftw!)

(dunno y it turned sideways, html phail ftl....)

and heres my pose, idk if it was done before, but i was tryin to make the "y" letter (for yattah!!!!, kinda like hooray in japanese, when you reached something you havent done/gone before hehe)

-------------------------YATTAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!--------------------

then finally, went down to the actual market to buy groceries, i had a couple of things in mind, but i bought things that were recommended / lokked good by a friend of mine (yup you know who you are lol) but in any case, enjoyed the whole shopping thing so much, we went twice/thrice around the entire mart (lol)

heres a list of the things i bought (if my memory serves me correct0
-soju
-raspberry wine
-clementines! (tiny oranges)
-metal chopsticks (1 set)
-cooking wooden chopsticks
-bath stuff
-pens
-assorted goodies! (ice cream, carbonated drink, etc)
-korean snack!
-baby carrots!

---will post some pics when i get the chance, but atm, please be patient lol---

after that, we saw snsd doin their oh! song in the tv in the market! woot~!

then lastly, went in the bakery to buy a cake for my gm, it was somewhat special, and i enjoyed the time! ohh ill try to post the cake pic as well, but not atm, due to time constraints... but hopefully i can do it tom or so lol

---location of the pic... try to upload asap... mianhae!---

there you have it! our experience shortened in a blog! hope to post more of these kinds of exp while i still can hehehe. hope you enjoyed listenin/readin my post! and hopefully i can visit there again! soon i hope, and with a friend or two ^^

She's out of my League... Xan's Movie Rating (XMR)

Hello there people of blogspot! as you've all known, recently there's a movie entitled "Shes out of my League" that had just been shown in theaters recently, and i was able to see it (even though im alone... ^^) anyway, the trip to the movie house was a bit harsh (due to traffic and gettin a bit delayed.... long story short got a bit lost >.<) but made it otherwise to see it on time...

was there and noticed alot of people who were watchin it seemed to be the same couple as shown in the movie (oddly enough)... for those of you peeps who dont know what the movie is all about, i shall give a brief synopsis without ruining it for those peeps who want to watch it =P

The story is very straightforward. its about an ordinary guy, with an ordinary job, which by fate, happens to meet this very attractive girl, who happens to befriend him, and eventually likes him. story goes on and on between the two people, one tryin so hard to know the reason why the girl is so into him, and the girl who is just fascinated by the guy, but didnt know why. Story continues, with some perverted jokes and sexual humor added, until they both fall in love. the end =)
(p.s. alot more happened, but couldnt state it here for potential moviegoers)

ohh heres a more detailed plot (straight from wikipedia, no credit to me here)

>Kirk (Jay Baruchel) works at the Pittsburgh airport as a Transportation Security Administration officer and has very few goals in life other than trying to get back together with his evil ex-girlfriend Marnie (Lindsay Sloane). Then he meets smart, sexy, charming Molly (Alice Eve) and, contrary to all expectations, starts dating her. But his initial excitement turns to panic as his insecurities and the advice of family and friends threaten to ruin the relationship. Even Kirk isn't exactly sure what Molly sees in him, though he's willing to do whatever it takes to make the relationship work. With his friends, family, and ex-girlfriend all watching stunned from the sidelines, Kirk discovers that he'll have to work overtime in order to convince Molly that he's worth hanging on to.

ok movie rating time! hmm at first, was eager to see it due to i can somewhat relate to the movie (not that i compare myself to the guy, but i do know what it feels like to like, and be liked... also to be paired with someone whom you wouldnt expect at all.) but after i saw the movie... i noticed some minor details that caught my eye..

1. To much airport scenes. Yup, imho (im my humble opinion) i think they are tryin to get most of that specific airport, or to promote it. they shown the entire building, from the parking entrance, to the runway, all the way to the security and so forth (you get the drift). For my taste, it was kinda too much O.o

2. The perverted humor and some *scenes (omitted the term, you guys know what im tryin to say here right?). I guess thats why they gave this movie "R" rating... it is including some crude humor and adult material that it may cause some heads turning (for better or worse) but as an adult, its fine by me (due to i have seen worse movies in conjunction to the topic)

3. Actor (played by jay baruchel) he's a great actor. Frankly speaking, but if your gonna get a "loser" type guy, then he may not be the perfect "loser". imo, he can pass as a regular guy, physique wise. maybe the way he acted in the movie gave it away, but honestly, they could get someone else to actually look like a loser type material, if thats what they are goin for anyway (the reason im thinking they got him is because he's in the rise, plus maybe the actress likes him to play the part. idk O_O just some random guesses) anyway he played the role perfectly, and i liked his freshness on the scenes. its just my opnion towards the director if they are tryin to imploy the "guy" to be incompatible with the girl, they could have settled for a less "normal" guy. or so to speak :P

ok for the upsides!

1. love the friend combo! so random guys, so unique, and so realistic! the way they use those 3 guys, their attitude and appearance made it believable that they are normal "bestfriends" peeps. plus, they add comedic scenes to the main actor, which brings out the realisticness of the plot. kudos for this one

2. Actress (played by Alice Eve). No words needed. Just pure admiration and silence. No questions asked =))

3. Actor (played by Jay Baruchel). like i said from the top, hes a great actor imo and gives freshness to the scene. gave another kudos for his line-delivering technique hehehe

Final verdict time: ok this would be my first attempt in rating movies, so for future reference, i would show what my categories are:

max stars = 5

1 - ingenuity and depth of plot/screenplay/storyline
1 - actors/actresses portrayal of roles
1 - cinematography (includes special effects and other cgi stuff)
1 - movie suited for the genre it was shown for (like e.g. comedy for comedy, action for action, etc.)
1 - personal score liking (comments added here if needed)

ok after stating my categories.... Xan's Movie Rating (XMR for short) for the movie "She's Out Of My League" would be a 3 out of 5 stars. -1 for cinematography and -1 for depth of plot. But i personally liked it ^_~

Perfect setting

Taking out trash
when it hit me up my spine
cold howling wind

Reminiscent dream
lingering feelings come up
lost and unaware

Love forgotten
sincere thoughts of you kept
began to ponder

While outside
thinking of you now
feeling cold

Came and gone away
smiles and laughter we cherished
all memories now

Just realized something
while reminiscent of you
making me feel sick

Left outside to cold
body shivers to the bone
went away for warmth

Then it came to me
nothing is more important
memories itself

at the beach (repost from xanga)

earlier... i was exercising with a friend...
at the beach, sorta like godsend...
i was fascinated, waves that bend...
thinkin when my heart would mend...

but then i realized something...
right now, i dont need anything...
and this experience is like no other thing...
is like i just want to shout and sing...

that im soo happy today
that i saw it for the first time
and i helped a friend along the way
and my emotions would sublime

finally, before we got to leave
seeing awkward things like pet peeve's
making someone to believe
that's there's happiness to live

i hope you got my message
and the wind shall be the passage
just remember if anything goes wrong
just take it as it is, and sing a song

"Be HAPPY for LIFE has given you ONE"

->done a few months back...
